Unlocking Your iPhone: Is It A Good Idea

Unlocking Your iPhone: Is It A Good Idea

We have all heard about unlocking your iPhone so that you can use a different SIM in it. This may be a good idea in certain situations. Many people want to unlock their iPhone to get around using AT&T as their cell phone service provider. Others just want to use the iPhone for internet and music capabilities and they do not want to use it as a phone at all. They hack the firmware so that they do not have to activate the phone on any network in order to use it. Here is the question before us. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good idea?

If you are looking to unlock your iPhone to use it on another network such as T-Mobile then you are breaking the law. It is illegal and in violation of Apple’s agreement with AT&T to use it on another network. Apple receives royalties from AT&T for every iPhone that is connected to their network. Apple loses money on every hacked iPhone. Many feel that it is ok to hack the iPhone’s firmware so that it can be used on another network. It is the author’s standpoint that this ethically wrong. Whether you agree with AT&T and Apple’s agreement or not is up to you. If you do not agree with it then do not use the iPhone as a cell phone. In this case, I do not agree with the hacking of the firmware.

On the other hand if you do not want the high expense of AT&T’s iPhone service and you are looking to use the iPhone for its music and internet capabilities then hacking into the firmware so that you do not have to activate the AT&T cell phone service is OK. You should be able to buy the iPhone and use it for the music, video and internet capabilities without having to connect to AT&T’s cell phone network. You can use places that offer free WiFi to access the internet via your iPhone. The iPod does not give you internet capabilities. Therefore, if you want to have internet, combined with awesome content then you really do need an iPhone and you should not have to purchase expensive cell phone service in order to enjoy the reason most people buy an iPhone in the first place. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good idea? In this case, yes it is.

Then there is a third reason to hack into the firmware. This is really in a grey area as it uses the full capabilities of the iPhone, including using it as a phone. You can add Skype VOIP service for about $10 a month and then you have a WiFi phone. If you are using the iPhone in this way and do not want to use AT&T’s cell phone service you are still going to have to hack into the firmware so that you do not activate the phone with AT&T. Is this in violation of the AT&T, Apple agreement? No, it is not. That agreement is for AT&T to provide exclusive cell phone service for the iPhone. The VOIP service is not cell phone service. Therefore, if you are not using another cell phone service provider for your iPhone you are not violating any agreement. This is one way to get around the exclusive contract with AT&T and still be able to send and receive calls. The only drawback is that you need to be in an area where you can pickup a WiFi signal in order to use your Skype VOIP service.

Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good idea? It depends on your views. On one hand there are legal and ethical issues with hacking into the firmware in general. However, your intent on why you are doing this also comes into play. Apple and AT&T have an exclusive agreement as far as cell phone service goes. Apple does not recommend the use of any other SIM card other than the one that came with your phone but it does not specifically prohibit it either. If you bought the iPhone to use for content and internet only or even if you plan to use it as an expensive Skype VOIP phone, that is your business and you should be able to do this without signing up for expensive cell phone service you do not need. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good idea? Perhaps.

Can you use your iPhone overseas

Can you use your iPhone overseas

If you are a business professional, than you use your iPhone for more than simply keeping in touch with your friends and family, in many cases your iPhone is your link to the business world. Whether you are keeping track of your stocks, checking your e-mail or conducting conference calls while on your way to a business meeting, your iPhone is literally your key to keeping connected with your professional life. However, if you are like most business professionals, than you travel the globe in order to keep your business active and profitable. There are many concerns that people have with cell phones are whether or not you will be able to use your phone when you are in a different country, especially if you are visiting for an extended period of time.

Like most cell phones, the iPhone works with a particular cell phone carrier, and in this case you have your service through AT&T/Cingular. Many business professionals want the security in knowing that their cell phone service will not be disrupted simply because they travel from country to country. Since the iPhone is serviced by AT&T/Cingular, you will not have to worry about loosing service, or features, because the iPhone uses the GSM system. GSM is an acronym that stands for Global System for Mobile communication, thus allowing you to use your cell phone in many different countries. Actually, there are over one hundred countries around the world that use GSM, thus allowing you to keep using your iPhone without any hindrance to cell service.

Many business travelers go to Europe and Asia, and since their iPhone uses GSM, they are able to have excellent service throughout both of these locations. However, there are some precautions that you will want to take before you leave the country with your iPhone. If you have ever traveled throughout the world and used your cell phone, you were probably surprised by extremely high charges for phone and data use.

This is because your number is an American telephone number, thus every call you make within another country is looked upon by your carrier as an international call. If you are overseas for quite some time, than it is easy to accumulate several hundred dollars worth of fees and roaming charges, this is why you will
want to alter you calling plan if you travel overseas frequently.

AT&T/Cingular has really great international calling plans that are very cost effective. Thus you are able to still travel throughout the world without having to worry about roaming and international call fees. Also, if you use data on your iPhone, which most of you do, you will want to make sure that you have an international data plan as well. The worst homecoming surprise you can get is opening your cell phone bill only to find several hundred dollars worth of extra charges and fees. However, if you plan ahead and make sure that you obtain a new service plan that includes international cell phone use, you will not have to worry about extremely high charges.

How To Put Movies On Your Iphone

How To Put Movies On Your Iphone

If you own an Iphone and you’d like to learn to put movies on it, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re reading this, you probably already know that the Iphone is a fantastic piece of technology-not only does it contain most of the features of the smash hit Ipod range, but it also contains the features of today’s cutting edge cellphone technology.

The ability to watch movies on your Iphone is predicted to be one of the most popular factors for people who are considering purchasing one. If you do plan to use your Iphone to watch movies, you will first need to transfer movie files that are in the correct format from your computer to your Iphone. Most people aren’t in the position to have lots of MP4 format movies already stored on their computer, so in most cases it is necessary to purchase a “ripper” program, which is computer program that reads the data from a DVD and stores it on your computer. Most modern rippers have the option to save it as various kinds of files, and as long as MP4 is an option, you should be fine as this is the format the Iphone needs.

Once you have some ripping software, you should be able to transfer your existing dvd collection to your Iphone without too much trouble at all.

The other option when you are looking to put movies on your Iphone is to download them directly from the internet. A few years ago this would have seemed like sheer madness, but with easier and faster internet access than ever before, it’s never been easier or more convenient to download movies to your computer. Once you have them downloaded, you can then transfer them to your Iphone as you see fit.

Many people use the various torrent and peer to peer sites to download their movies from, but many people don’t realise how dangerous this can be-in more ways than one! Downloading from these kinds of sites is not only illegal, but it can seriously harm your computer, maybe kill it altogether, and if it does that to your computer imagine what will happen to your Iphone!

An altogether safer alternative is one of the newer download sites that are springing up. The way these work is that they charge you a one off fee, and once you pay it you are officially a member and they give you unlimited access to their downloads for life. It’s a very neat way of downloading movies for use with your Iphone. As a bonus, you’ll also usually find that many of the sites don’t limit your downloads to movies only-you can get games and TV shows and even music for use with your Iphone.

Hopefully you’ll find this article useful if you are looking to download movies to your Iphone.

Communications And Telephones

Communications And Telephones

Although credit for the invention of the telephone remains in doubt and open to much debate and discussion, there is no such doubt over the impact and progress seen from this mode of telecommunications. Inventors including Alexander Graham Bell, Elisha Gray, Johann Phillip Reis and Antonio Meucci all laid claim to having invented the very first telephone.

The late 20th and early 21st century has seen an incredible rise in the popularity of mobile telecommunication devices such as mobile phones or cell phones. Several countries including the United Kingdom now have more mobile phones in circulation than people. The early history of these mobile telephones can be traced back to the 1940’s although the real strides in development and design of these phone began in the 1980’s and mushroomed in the 1990’s. successful mobile telephone manufacturers include Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Motorola.

Further advances in technology have led to component parts of telephones becoming smaller and smaller and therefore the telephones themselves becoming smaller, more compact and easier to carry. There is much competition between the companies who manufacture these telephones to provide smaller phones packed with new tahcnology.

Another major step in the development of mobile phones is the advent of 3rd Generation phones (or 3G to abbreviate). Due to these advances, it will soon be possible for everyone mobile phone owner to make use of satellite navigation devices. Also readily available in most mobile phones is the ability to access the internet. The technology used for this is called Wireless Application Protocol or WAP. It allows mobile phone owners to access the internet remotely and nowadays most sites are built to be WAP compatible in order to capture a piece of this market.

The latest and most recent advancement in telecommunications technology is that of the creation of Voice Over IP. Known as VOIP, this technology allows voice communication over the internet. One obvious advantage of this are that most people can use this technology very easily.

Many VOIP providers such as Voipstunt provide the services outlined above for free. It is already possible to reduce call costs to zero leaving only the land line element of a bill to pay.

iPhone Unlocking Benefits

iPhone Unlocking Benefits

Many awaited the launch of the iPhone and when it finally arrived in the summer of 2007 the line to get one was a long one. For people who didn’t live in the USA the waiting in this line would have to continue till November the same year and by then it stood clear that the phone needed to get unlocked to live up to its full potential. To get an iPhone and not unlock it would be considered a waste of money by many, especially since unlocking became so easy as clicking your mouse.

Cheating Customers

It is questionable if it is OK to unlock an iPhone but this could easily be turned around as a customer that buys this expensive phone is forced to accept the terms of the operator it is tied to. In the USA the phone operator is AT&T and in some cases buying the phone means that a customer has to stick to the phone company for 2 years! It is evident that such an arrangement robs the customers of the benefits of a free market where prices are influenced by the competition of the phone companies. To unlock the iPhone means to get a better variety of rates and subscriptions.

In Europe it is only possible for people living in the UK, Germany or France to enjoy the locked iPhone. It is not unusual with business relationships between these nations and that means that customers in Europe will not only have to accept the rates of the company with the rights to the iPhone in their own country but also the conversion rates that are added as they cross into one of the other countries. By unlocking the iPhone it will gain a better reputation as a phone that can be fit for everyone.

Immobile mobile

For people living in countries other than the UK, France, Germany and the US, the only way to enjoy an iPhone is to unlock it. It is quite remarkable that a phone that is meant to be used as an all around tool isn’t fit to be used globally. Without a simlock the phone becomes affordable and more attractive and it can better be used globally. Taking away the lock-feature will not only benefit the great many customers who would like to use it but also the producers that certainly want to see their phone conquer the world.

If you decide to unlock your iphone its recommend you do it with a reputable firm that knows what its doing and can give you propper support. There are many cases where an iPhone has been bricked by malfunctioning software.

The iPhone 5 is set to break records all over the place – from its feather like weight to the astonishingly powerful A6 chip that makes the whole thing work smoothly no matter what you’re trying to do. It’s also looking like it will set financial records – despite a cripplingly sluggish economy, pre orders for the iPhone 5 could not possibly be stronger.

Here are some interesting facts about the iPhone 5, Apple, Steve Jobs and everything in between:

– The Apple philosophy is truly remarkable. The company conceives new gadgets before the technology to create them even exists, and it then finds a way to bring it to market.

Apple Iphone Review – Should You Buy The Apple Iphone Now, Or Wait?

Apple Iphone Review – Should You Buy The Apple Iphone Now, Or Wait?

There has been a ton of buzz lately about Apple’s iPhone and for good reason. The iPhone is an innovative take on the cellular phone handset and it incorporates a lot of really great features. Having said that, should you rush out to buy the 1st generation Apple iPhone or wait for future releases of the handset? In this article, I’m going to give you some food for thought that you should consider before making a decision one way or the other.

As with virtually any new technology-related product release, there will be iPhone bugs to deal with. The first generation Apple iPhone is already catching criticism for things such as earpiece volume, battery life, and battery replacement. If I know anything about Apple, I know that they listen to user feedback and you can bet the ranch that the biggest complaints voiced over their 1st generation version will be addressed in future iPhone models.

Another reason to wait is pricing. As you’ve already seen, Apple drastically lowered their iPhone pricing just months after the initial launch. To be honest, I expected to see a price drop, but not that soon and certainly not by that much. Anytime you purchase the newest technology riding on a wave of hype and excitement, you’re going to pay top dollar for it.

So the verdict? If you can control the urge to buy the latest and greatest toy from Apple for just a little while longer, you’ll most likely end up with a product that you’ll be more satisfied with, and at a price that won’t pull on the pursestrings quite as hard. Don’t get me wrong, I love the iPhone and think it’s a fantastic product worth buying, however, it would serve you best in my opinion to wait for the next release. No matter what you decide, enjoy it… it’s a great gadget!
